Mayonnaise banned in Telangana

The Telangana government recently imposed a one-year ban on mayonnaise made with raw eggs, mainly due to concerns over food safety.

Gastrointestinal Issues

Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea are common symptoms. These can result from bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli.

Fever and Weakness

These symptoms often accompany gastrointestinal problems and indicate the body's immune response to infection.

Severe Dehydration

Continuous vomiting and diarrhea can lead to dehydration, which can be particularly dangerous in children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Long-term Complications

Severe cases of food poisoning can cause complications like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or even more chronic infections if not promptly treated.

Foodborne Illness Recurrence

People with weakened immune systems or those who previously suffered from foodborne illness may be more susceptible to recurring infections.

Allergic Reactions

Raw-egg-based mayonnaise can trigger allergic reactions in people with egg allergies, leading to symptoms such as itching, swelling, hives, or, in severe cases, anaphylaxis.

Bacterial Resistance

Continuous exposure to contaminated food can lead to infections that are harder to treat with standard antibiotics
